Making a List and Checking It Twice… (Or More!)

December 1, 2016 10 Comments

Well, people, it’s officially December! (Feel free to emit squeals of delight and/or guttural moans of agony, depending on your feelings about the month.)

I feel as though I’m still digesting my Thanksgiving dinner, but somehow, it’s time to start making a list. I make lists all the time in order to function in my everyday life, but this List with a Capital L is different. I don’t know about you all, but December is an insanely busy month, and I’ve got a lot to remember to do! (Item #1: Start The List™. I’m SO ahead of the game!)

I’m hoping that by putting some of the items on my List™ out there, it will get some of you to remind me of the things that I’m forgetting! (Trust me… there’s bound to be plenty!)

Christmas cards, sending out Christmas cards, addressing Christmas cards, writing Christmas cards, ordering Christmas cards, making a list and checking it twice, making a Christmas list, Christmas list, things to do in December, Blonde Seeking Ambition

  • Thing To Do: Order Christmas cards

Holy crap! I actually did this one already! < insert The Dance of Joy here… >

Wait. I have to write in them. And address them. And send them. Looks like I’m adding a few more things to the List™…

Wrapping Christmas gifts, buying Christmas gifts, wrapping Christmas presents, buying Christmas presents, making a list and checking it twice, making a Christmas list, Christmas list, things to do in December, Blonde Seeking Ambition

  • Thing To Do: Buy Christmas (and birthday!) presents

I’m making decent progress here… I start my Christmas shopping early. This is primarily because I LOVE buying gifts for people (it’s kind of a problem!), but also because I would rather have experimental, exploratory surgery than go anywhere near a mall this time of year. I did a fair amount online already, but I also like to shop locally in smaller stores.

I also have a few very dear friends with December birthdays – I try very hard to make sure that their presents are NOT wrapped in Christmas paper!

Where do you do your Christmas shopping? When do you start?

  • Thing To Do: Eat All The Things

Oh, man… I think I’ve got this one covered. Apart from all the Christmas cookies I plan to eat this month, there are a few other major holidays this month that I plan to celebrate:

    • December 8th: National Brownie Day
    • December 13th: National Ice Cream Day
    • December 15th: National Cupcake Day

What’s your favorite thing to eat this time of year? You know… so I can add it to my List™.

New Year's Eve, NYE, champagne, NYE plans, New Year's Eve plans, making a list and checking it twice, making a Christmas list, Christmas list, things to do in December, Blonde Seeking Ambition

  • Thing To Do: Oh yeah… ring in the New Year?!?!

I haven’t even remotely thought about this. The only thing I know for certain is that I will be eating!

What are you all doing on New Year’s Eve?

rest and relaxation, reading, reading on a couch, relaxing, making a list and checking it twice, making a Christmas list, Christmas list, things to do in December, Blonde Seeking Ambition

  • (Most Important) Thing To Do: Preserve sense of normalcy

It’s really easy to get swept up in all the insanity of the holidays… but it’s important to keep pieces of your normal routine in place. Part of the magic of December is its brevity – it’s here and then it’s gone! – so make sure you’re taking care of yourself in between throwing elbows at the mall.

What’s missing from my List™? What are you most looking forward to this month? Tell me in the comments!

It’s so much fun buying gifts for other people, isn’t it?! And the online sales made it hard not to go a little insane! I’m right there with you!

I need to make a list of all the cookies I need to back. I bake a new batch each day everyday in December so my husband can take them to work with him to feed his Soldiers. I literally feed an army lol.

I’m super organized about my holidays, because I find it incredible stressful not to be. I do just about all of my shopping online. I pretty much finished my list in 30 minutes online. I think I get great deal and a better selection. Plus, living in a major cite, i can’t contend with the traffic, lines and crowds at malls.

I am right there with you about traffic/crowds/etc… they’re both a timesuck and a thief of joy. Congratulations on finishing almost all of your shopping already!

What's on your mind?
